(Bauer Griffin)more pics »Rihanna's "777" tour hit a rough patch or two over the weekend, as the Barbados-born superstar showed up late for gigs and reportedly refused to mingle with journalists aboard the 777 jet she's chartered, multiple sources report. But it's not all bad: The crowd at her Berlin gig forgave her after she finally took the stage. The journalists? Still mad. Also, apparently the plane smells.
Though Rihanna was scheduled to take the stage at Berlin's E-Werk at 9 pm on Sunday, it was nearly 11:30 when she finally strolled out, according to NME. Initially greeted with boos, Rihanna managed to charm the crowd with a full set of her hits, including "Take Care," "Umbrella," and of course her new single "Diamonds." The singer offered no apology for her tardiness, but no real Rihanna fan would expect one — her new album is called Unapologetic, after all.
Journalists aboard the 777 plane are feeling less enthusiastic about the tour these days, however. Idolator's Robbie Daw described a mid-air revolt on Monday, the result of exhaustion and frustration over being denied access to the star of the show:
During a Berlin-to-London trek, the
passengers began to stand up in their seats with their various recording
devices and stage a somewhat comical, yet passionate, revolution. Did I
mention the naked Australian who streaked the entire plane?
But the most troubling aspect of the whole ordeal may be how the plane is starting to smell. Also, the food sucks. MTV's Maud Dietch
wrote early Monday morning, "[It] now smells like a movie theater
concession stand on the Rihanna plane and the people next to us just
rolled up to their seats with tumblers filled with whiskey and then one
of them promptly spilled it into his seat back pocket. Maybe Rihanna was
buying lingerie for all of US in Paris while we were foraging for
delicious, clearly-labeled, microwavable, chicken fajita burritos and
instead getting ricotta cheese jammed into a tomato-flavored crepe. HAR
HAR HAR."It's a rough life on the road with Rihanna.
