Tennis: Novak Djokovic Through To The Third Round Of The Paris Masters

World number two Novak Djokovic needed a first set tie-break on his way to overcoming qualifier Pierre-Hughes Herbert to proceed into the third round of the Paris Masters on Tuesday.
The Serbian saw off the 22-year-old Frenchman 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
Djokovic saved two set points in the first set and saw off a rally from Herbert in the second before wrapping up victory.

Home favourite Richard Gasquet also reached the third round after beating Fernando Verdasco 7-5 (7-6), 6-3.
Gasquet’s victory over the Spaniard boosts his chances of making the ATP World Tour finals at London’s O2 Arena next month.
Rafael Nadal, Djokovic, David Ferrer, Juan Martin Del Potro and Thomas Berdych are the five players who have already booked their places at the season-ending tournament.
World number 10 Joe-Wilfried Tsonga is out of the race for London following the Frenchman’s 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (9-7) loss to Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
