The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has
lifted its ban on promotions by Airtel, Globacom and Etisalat. NCC
Director of Public Affairs Tony Ojobo told the News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) that the ban was lifted because the three service providers met
the regulatory body's December 2012 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Ojobo said that the ban placed on promotions by MTN is still in force
until the KPIs are met.
NAN recalled that the NCC imposed the ban on 12 November 2012. Ojobo then said that the ban was introduced because NCC was inundated with complaints from consumers and stakeholders about the various promotions offered by the operators.
